A friend of mine is looking for a new trailer for his 19 foot flat bottom skiff, and a local dealer showed him a “torsion axle ” trailer. The trailer doesent have any springs. (No springs to rust in salt/brackish water.) Does any one have any personal experience with this type of trailer? I looked at the trailer this afternoon, and it seems like a good set up. Does anybody, BCB included , know the good, bad, or ugly, about this type of suspension system? Thanks.

I dont know about the good or the ugly, but one bad is that torsion bars can break. Maybe that would not be so likely on a trailer, but it did happen many moons ago on my 1968 Barracuda. Probably too much horsepower …

They are awesome. Thats on my 09 Puma. Pulls like a dream and you can not feel it behind your truck. BCB has made a good move by me!

Have one on my Grady White. Double axle. They are great. Bass Cat has switched to them for the 2009 model year. Would not hesitate in getting one.

I have had them for the past 12 or so years on my horse trailers never had a problem or complaint and they have seemed to hold up very well to a fairly abusive environment my current trailer is ten years old and hauled many many milesTreat everyday like it might be the last
