What was the first year cougars were rated for a 300?

2006 I think. Some of the plates still had a 285 rating, though my brothers 06 Cougar FTD has 300 on it….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

We dont know ourselves, though it would be in the ten year range and they will update the certification plate upon request.

So if I bought say an 05 I could get a updated plate for 300 hp?

We think 05 rigs were 300, though yes they would with the serial number to file in house for notes.

My 06 Cougar FTD is rated for 285. I think it was in 08.
