I have the large round power pole foot switches. I had them in my previous R brand boat. In my new Caracal I cannot decide where to place them due to the more forward stance (which I am really enjoying, btw.)Where are you guys placing these so you are not stepping on them all the time? I am toying with putting them up on the gel-coat (with silicone) next to the cup-holder…? I am doing ok with the key-fob for now while I decide.Thank you,Dave.
I did not want those foot switches on my Caracal for the reasons you described. I tape mounted a wireless switch near the TM. If I think Im going to use the PP lot a given day Ill just use the fob around my neck.
Ive had the fob, Ive had the round foot switches- I wouldnt trade back to a fob for anything. Things hanging off your neck, flopping around everywhere, gotta fish it out of a pocket at times, gets deployed when you set the hook, gets wedged between my man boobs- its bad stuff man.How you gonna put the poles down when you have one hooked up? Why would you want to tie your hands up when they usually have a rod in them? How you gonna like reaching for a fob when you get a bait hung up, the wind is blowing, and youre trying to hold a fishin pole with a hung lure and find a fob with the other. Dude it sucks. You got 4 major appendages for a reason- use em.I personally think the right/starboard is your only option in the deck- got to get away from trolling motor when stowed. Only issue is getting used to rod tips being next to driver console so rods dont get in way of you steppin on the buttons when you got a donkey kong on the line.I dont see how folks inadvertently step on them? I guess since I use troller pedal with right foot my left is well away from my buttons?C.O.D. Jr. III
This is where mine are in my eyra. Gotta have rods back a little but it works great. I use right foot for troller so left foot far away. I guess I could step on them getting in but I cant say I ever have?C.O.D. Jr. III
Im thinking about doing the same thing Gary did. I have a fob and an extra dash switch. I know the fob would just be in my way while fishing. Not sure where near the trolling motor, but some place in that area. I can likely get along with out it as I really doubt Ill be using the poles very much. So far, Ive used them to anchor while eating lunch and to fish one spot while I was down at Ky. Lake. I would not have the power poles had the boat not come with them. I cant even use them where I launch at my local lake, the water is too deep by the dock.
I have my remotes mounted on the left side on the carpet. It really doesnt matter. Just use the side that you feel most comfortable with. Rods can get on one side just as easy as the other.
On my Caracal I mounted mine under the troll motor when stowed, on both sides of the bump stop. That way when I pick someone up at the dock they dont step on them, and easy for me to get to when troller is deployed. Best I could come up with and seem to be located perfectly for me.
Thanks guys, I think I am leaning towards the left side as well…due to egress as 2010CougarFTD mentions.Dave

I removed the neck strap from my fob and put one of those oval climber clamps on that I snap to my pants belt loop. Doesnt dangle and right there handy to push. I just remember which side is up or down as it hangs so dont need to look at it.
