Couple questions on a 91 P2

Been getting my 91 P2 all fixed up and have a couple questions. Im running a merc 200 just rebuilt with a ballistic 24 prop. Ive maxed it out at 69.2 GPS speed but the prop is pretty chewed up what would you recommend for a new one? Got the live wells working and one keeps shutting off after about 30 seconds. There are 2 dials by the aerator switches do these control the running time cause its rubbed off. Also there is another dial to the upper left of the dash what does it do as its all rubbed off also. We would need pics as the aeration on a 1991 Pantera II was all integrated in the right dash panel.

More than likely that is the timer , if you look under console the wires will go to another pod /relay looking piece. And the other probably dial for 1240 lowrance

The top left is the on/ off and gain adjuster for the 1240 flasher. Not sure on the time but I think in general 1-3-5 min. And the are switches are auto and manual. You can try any 23-24 pitch prop for that boat, but we need to know what your rpm is at top speed you are getting 69 I think you said. How old is the motor on it? 5700 rpm is what most motors use as top rpm and play with prop pitch to achieve that. If you are under that with the prop you are using go up an inch on pitch. Plus another consideration is motor height , bass cats like it low on transom, such as props haft below the pad. I would imagine your jack plate is manual?

When I hit 69 it was around 5700 rpm the motor is a 91 that was just completely rebuilt with about 8 hours on it now. the jack plate is manual Im thinking 24 pitch is right but is one manufacturer better than another. With the live well timer dials Im assuming turned all the way to the right is shortest time and then more as I turn it left is that correctThanks so much for the help

Not sure on which way, you ill have to play , but I would have thought opposite L to R, as far as the rpm go, is t at 5700 or is it 100 to 200 away, it might not sound like a lot but when t comes to getting the best performance it counts, I dont know too much about ballistic props but a 23 to 24 fury or tempest plus is a good choice.Last edited by scubaman154 on June 10th, 2013, 1:58 am, edited 2 times in total.

Minimum is Minimum Aeration and Max is Maximum. The generally run for 30 seconds to a minute with up to 5 minutes off. BCB
