my steering feels like it is slipping, when I try to turn it starts and then lets go and starts again. I think it might be low on fluid and need to know what to put in it.

The hydraulic steering fill cap is usually on the top of the console (black screw cap) connected with a hose to the reservoir/pump/helm.

have tech check seals, your probably getting air in the lines or either leaking around the seals. Do not run in this condition trust me…not a good past experience

blackdc is correct. If you find a low level … get it checked by your dealer before you put it back on the water! Steering issues are nothing to ignore.BCB Admin

just got mine out of the shop today and it was just low on fluid. They put some fluid in and steering is fine for a cost of $55 but I wanted to make sure it was nothing else. First time that ever happened to me and was quite suprised by how it steered on the lake. I had way to much play in it. Boat is an 08 puma and there is no sign of a leak so I hope it does not happen again.

If they added steering fluid it had to leak somewhere.

Just went through that with Dads R boat. Had it at one shop twice and both times we were told that they could not find a leak and just topped off the fluid. Tried another shop and he could not find a leak in the “normal” places either but after a call to the company and replacing a check valve, the leak was found and subsequently repaired with new seals.
