I just purchesed my first cat yesterday. Caugar with a Honda four stroke. I do not know anything about the motor. I have always been a Murcury guy. Any assistance in telling me about the motor would be greatly appreciated.

Cant help you on the motor as I am a Mercury guy but I will tell you CONGRATS on the Cougar you have a GREAT boat!!

I can say its as realible as they come from what im told might not be the fastest but should get you home every time so thats a two thumps up

I had one of the first Honda 4-strokes on my first bass boat. Very dependable, quiet and efficient. Probably even better now. They were heavy and not very quick or fast back then. It was great for me back then. Even thought about looking into one for my new boat, but since I travel a lot and have a super Mercury mechanic close, I stuck with the Mercury. Welcome to the best family in the boating world. You have picked a great platform to fish from.I bleed black as far as motors go but the Honda is a quality motor. Same technology as in the Honda Accord just on a vertical line. As stated before, will not be the fastest but you can milk some gas if you stay off WOT. Keep the oil changed in both motor and lower unit and do a yearly water pump impeller and you will have years of good use from that motor.Godspeed

Can t wait to see the pics, that honda wont be the quickest, but as far as reliability you cant beat anything with honda written on the side of it.
