Sonar/GPS Mounting

I have a 2008 PUMA and wish to upgrade my electronics to a Humminbird 998c combo on the console and a 898c combo on the bow. Has anyone done this and were there any problems with the fit. Any advice on linking the two/mounting transducers/mounting GPS sensor? A picture of the console is included.

I want to mount the 998c flush in the console where the 520C is currently installed. The fit looks a little tight according to my measurements, but I seem to recall something that says this is a doable do. BCB admin: any comments on the fit or linking options?

Not 100% on the fit but I think you will have to do a little cutting on the console. Link the two units via the Ethernet cable. Mount the bow unit to the fiberglass like your current unit or go with a RAM mount. I suggest the RAM mount as it will give you more options on angle, tilt, and most important to me, height off the deck. I like my unit to be as far off the deck as I can get it so it is easier to read and gives the screen a larger appearance. Good luck.

Check my Facebook page for some photos of the mount and how I mounted my iPad2 on the console. Navionics has apps for iPad and iPhone. Having Google earth on the console is key also. Dont know about hb, but low has a template on their web site that you can print and cut out. I did this when I flush mounted a hds 8 on my 09 cougar ftd. Had to rout out the bottom left corner a tad with a dremel but it fit and looks just fine.Last edited by KyCatFan on November 2nd, 2011, 1:57 am, edited 1 time in total.

I checked and could not find a template on hbs site. I did notice that the unit you are looking at is 0.4 inches wider than my 8. I did not have that much room to spare. Not saying it is not possible but if we have the same size opening, Jamie is correct, you would have to do some cutting or perhaps fab a thick spacer.

You will need the bezel ring to fit the 998/898 units. BCB Parts has those available.
