Retractable Rod Straps Question

Is it safe to install retractable rod straps on front in the sides of 2003 P3?

Be careful not to hit the T/M wires (speaking from experience). Disconnect the batteries first. Pro-Tec Productswww.protecproducts.com

I dont think you can install in the gunnels of your boat. I installed mine in the floor on my previous two basscats and absolutly loved it with no issues. I got the idea from a Pro Guide who fished out of a BassCat on Lake Guntersville. They work great. Just stay away from those claimed six footers. Wait a second. Why would anyone be in that type of water fishing anyway??? Per BBC I think it overwhelmingly accepted by a overwhelming margin from all bass boat owners what their preference is regarding retractable rods straps. Before this digresses. There is no wrong answer. Use what you want and use common sense you should not have any issues.I know you are interested in doing this. If you proceed you can PM me. Ill be happy to share how I installed these in my boat. Also, my retractable rod straps were almost 100% water proof too. I have flooded my top deck to clean carpet and had at most a very mild damp spot in one little area in my rod locker. Flyswatter has the install properly. You will most likely have to insert them into the deck. We have a small insert for the install, and a spacer for the backset. BCB will be selling those in the future for aftermarket installs. They are available on new boats now. Sometimes Flyswatter we have to be out in those 6 waves and BCB build boats for the anglers who have to and that gets you the product you want for those who dont.BCB

I am glad I dont qualify nor would I want to!!!! I cant imagine any bassboat being in six foot swells. All that being said I understand your position and your rod strap strategy.

Taken from the recent article on Bassfan About Shinichi Fukaes win on Champlain…Yall can have those retratable straps. I think the theory behind them is good, just not worth the chance to lose some rod and reels…Dropshot gear: 610″ Megabass Orochi F3-610XS rod, Shimano Stella 2500 spinning reel, 7-pound Yoz-Ami D-Arm fluorocarbon line (16-inch drop), No. 1 Gamakatsu Octopus hook, 1/4- and 3/8-ounce weights, Gary Yamamoto Shad Shape worm (green-pumpkin). > He used the 1/4-ounce weight when fish were suspended 8 or so feet off bottom. > He donated two rods to Champlain on the final day when he took a wave.

That is the issue with the rod straps that most do not realize as BCB has pointed out. The rods slip to the inside on the very large bodies of water and the rough waves.
