Starting Battery

I have a 04 Cougar with a 225 Evinrude. I have a 24v Minnkota and Im switching to a 36v Minnkota. I have 3 Trojan SCS225, so I will use them for the trolling motor. Now I need to buy a starting Batt. I used the Trojan SCS225 for the starting batt. last year but it seemed like it was having a tough time turning over the big motor. I was wondering what most guys use for a starting batt.? I like the idea of a deep cycle because of all the electronics hooked up to it, but it didnt seem like it had enough juice for cranking.

What would you suggest for a starting battery ?

Minimum 1000 cca for starting battery. Personally, when my originals go out i have now gone back to the 27MXHD Interstate batteries. I used them for years with good luck, then they had a weak spell with another mfg. making the batteries, and now i believe they are made again by Johnson Controls(good) and ive gone back. Them or Die Hards(same mfg.?) have served me well. Trojans are no bueno, and Continentals not any better ! The AGM batteries ? dont know,,,,D.

You need 1000 CCA for that motor, you have to remember that your electronics run off of that battery , sure wouldnt want to get stranded because it was to small of a battery to get the job done

Get you a big AGM and dont look back. That is the one you need for a starter. Cabelas, Sears, Deka, Exide xmcs. They are all good. If you get one of these you will have more than enough power and should last for years. Im only on my second one in 9 years. It is also what BCB recommends. I just got the Odyssey PC2150. Its awesome. First time since Ive owned my Puma that I have no worries about a battery. It was the best I could find.

I just bought a Sears Platinum PM-1 and used it for the first time in colloer temps. HUGE difference compared to every other battery I have used or my partners have used. Cranks like it should and it was money well spent.
