Thanks Basscat – My 1998 Pantera II served me well this weekend

I was on lake St-Francis Québec this weekend for a tournament and the wind made the boat ride a little bumpy with waves averaging 3-5ft but im happy to say the Pantera handled them very well…. especially for a 19ft hull. The boat ride was about 40 mins to my first spot but we passed a few 20ft rangers with 225s on the way and we got to my spot before anybody else. I am obviously not the fastest boat on the lake but I usually have no problem hanging with 225s averaging 65-69mph depending on the load. Sherm rebuilt the powerhead before I bought the boat about 2-3 years ago and its been running A1 since. Starts right away even after a long winter and when I fish in 30F degree temperatures.Feels good to finally win my first tournament and im happy I was able to do it in my basscat! I finished 1st out of 45 teams with a decent weight of 19.53lbs of all smallies (minus a dead fish). Very satisfied with the boat so far!Jon Belangerhttp://www.jonbelanger.com

If that image is on top hooked up, then we would lower the engine at tid bit. Very nice shot!

Thanks everyone! BCB : The boat has been running great with that setup… I my water pressure does go down a bit when I trim her up all the way but I keep my eyes on the gauge all the time. Thanks for the heads up!

Great running shot. Feel a little bad for you partner. Looks like it was a little chilly. Oh, and one more thing. How do you keep your hat on at that speed? Super glue? I end up taking it off so I wont lose it.Last edited by kramr on August 30th, 2010, 10:12 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I end up taking it off so I wont lose it.He wasnt that chilly from what I remember but without a passenger console the wind can get annoying on long runs… For my hat… I have no clue why I still have it on. Perhaps I had just put it back on because we were arriving at the weigh in I think… Or sometimes, for short runs I keep it on and hide behind the windshield!!
