Battery Life

I personally think you should expect it to pull hard for a full day of fishing. If it seems to get sluggish or you have to keep turning up the speed on it then your batteries might be weak. By the way a trolling motor battery usually lasts about 3 good years before replacement.

Imo and it is just another opinion! I think run time and battery life has to many variables to put a time frame on either. Run time for instance could be based on wind and current. whether or not one has run on 10 percent or 100 percent most of the day. Obivously the lower the percent the longer a battery should last. Though i agree a casual day one should last all day. I hang around 50 percent or less most days with grp 31 batterys and fish daylight to dark with plenty of charge left. As far as battery life goes their again many variables. Often of use, using the correct charger and charge habits are just a few. A battery has only so many cycles in it. I generally get 5 yrs out of mine. My buddy that fishes probablly twice as much as i do only gets 2.5 to 3yrs out of his. Ive heard this question ask many times. Ive learned alot about batterys through the yrs. Just to many variables.

One note. YOU control how long the batteries last. For example, on my Maxxum Pro (80# 24v) there is a chart on top that says if you run at 100% power, you will get about 2 hours of continuous running. Based on 56 amps per hour at wide open, that is probably generous as that will totally flatten a battery.I have seen days on Lay where it took 100% to barely move upstream when they are running 6 turbines and the wind is out of the north. Alternative is to start on the north end of your fishing zone and fish at 2-2.5mph drift speed going down-river. Pretty fast for me.So 2 hours is about the minimum battery life you can expect. As you dial back the thrust you dial back the amps needed and extend the running time. Ive fished all day with two good group 27 batteries and did not run out of power. But you do have to use judgement as to where you fish to avoid that 100% power requirement.
