Hey everybody!I am starting to do the research for boat and truck. I will hopefully be in a BCB soon. 🙂 Anyway, my question is about the wiring harness for the BCB trailers. What is the typical configuration? 4 pin, 7 pin? Thanks!
If your getting a smaller boat with a single axle without brakes a 4 pin will do, the larger double axles with surge brakes take a 5 pin, Any brand truck is good as long as you have the 7-pin round connection, you can get the crossover to 5 pin. if it just has a 4 pin you can change it to a 5 pin just by adding a wire to the reverse lights. BassCat sells the x-over to 5 pin in the parts section of the home page. http://www.basscatstore.com/trailerplugadapter.aspx
Thanks guys! Very helpful! I am shooting for a Sabre FTD with tandem axle surge breaks. The tow vehicle is a Pathfinder, I want the stopping help. It currently has a 4 pin connection.
Just looked at the 7 to 5 conversion, but didnt see anything that would work for me. What would I need to do for a 4 pin connection that a Pathfinder has? Thanks for the help!
My Saturn had a 4 pin (old boat), took to Truck & Trailers, they cut off 4 pin connector and added the fifth wire with a new 5 pin connector for about $50.00 (parts & labor)
5 pin flat on a Bass Cat and all other boat trailers. Most stores carry a conversion plug from 5 to 7 round which is what will likely be on your tow vehicle.
