how do you detach the hanger hook from the headliner in the back of a tahoe/suburban? i want to install a rod rack, but need to unscrew the hook to do so. in my older truck (99 tahoe) the screw was exposed so you could easily detach from roof with a phillips screwdriver. the newer models (02 tahoe), the screw hole is not exposed. i can see where the plastic hook wants to separate, but i dont want to force anything and break it. i figured SURELY one of my cat brethren has either been through this, or is familiar with what im talking about. any advise is appreciated!

I am not sure on your particular question as I do not have Tahoe, but, I purchased a $10.00 expandable vehicle hangar rod from Walmart that has universal hooks on it, works like a champ. Easy out, easy in, and stays put when in use. I use it in the back of my Tundra. ahh.. just noticed you said “rod rack”… thought you were talking about hanging clothes, sorryLast edited by basscatsmeow on September 30th, 2008, 8:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.

they either turn and pull out or the center pulls out and then you can remove the outer….They have changed those in many instances to not use a screw at all…Try looking to see if the center is sepearte from the outer edges…if not then try to turn it right or left until it is sideways and it should pull straight out from there….

thanks mark, but it did not work. i tried twisting both ways, but it looked like it was stressing the joint. there is a seam down both sides that makes me think it was merely snapped into place with a locking hinge or something. i still dunno
