I have a guy who wants to get rid of a new Lowrance 522. It has the internal antenna. I was going to dash mount it, but Ive heard about interference problems doing that. A few questions, will dash mounting interfere with reception? If I ram mount it, does Basscat have anything that will cover up my dash hole. The unit Im replacing is an older LMS 320 going on the dash of a P4. Will ram mounting it to the dash be stable enough or do I need to try to put it inside of the cap by the rail? Thanks Bryan.
Thanks for the quick reply, also a quick comment for BCB, had my new to me 03 P4 on Rayburn this past weekend, and it ran great, no terrible weather to test it with, but it ran and fished great, we even caught a few fish. Love the boat. Bryan.
I put my 522i on a motor cycle handle bar ram mount out on the “oh shoot” bar to my right. Its easy to do and no holes in the boat. The mount has never hit my boat and while I havent taken a Rayburn beating I have taken a “middle of Dardanelle with east wind” beating with ZERO issues- WardC.O.D. Jr. III
My Sabre FTD haas the 522C iGPS in the dash, I have logged about 37 running hours on her now and have NEVER lost GPS signal, bottom a few times but never GPS. Right now I am having FITS trying to get the unit to accept the Lowrance updates. I am pretty sure my “exit” button is sticking and locks the unit up. Once I play with it for a while in the mornings it will work all day. When it finally quits 100% itll be replaced under warranty. Id just mount it in the dash and go fishin.
Will either style transducer work in the bilge area (skimmer vs. puck) My brother in law has one hell give me free, but I think its the skimmer. Can it be epoxied in and work well?
