Hey Guys, I got a EZ question for ALL Upper Midwestern BCB guys, and the rest of you too. Im out of Wisconsin, alot of the folks up here are Ranger brain washed, so for the past 3 years ive had to tear and scratch the BCB name into their minds. Now, because of “certain” brands misfortunes alot of folks are asking me about BCB. Weve delayed a stock boat until the recession nightmare had passed, but after personally speaking to Rick today, my boss and I decided for all of the work Ive done, we need a Instock Kitty. Rick suggested a Pantera 2, I thought Sabre FTD or Eyra, Eyra because its new, and just a ridiculous adapation of the BCB styling. I know most will say Mercury only, which I dont have a problem with, but If I get a Sabre FTD I rather have a 150 HO for price and performance vs. 175 Pro XS for over $1500 more and no more power, I guess if the 150 Pro XS comes out soon I could do that. 200 Pro XS no Problem on a P2, but on the Eyra, does a guy dare put anything on it but a 250, just because of the rating? Ive heard it runs Real nice with a 200, and thats what I was told 2 yrs ago, but you all know how Bass Guys are, MAX HP, as I do. Let me know your Ideas, I really need them. Thanks alot. P2 with a 200 SHO Yamaha. An Eyra with a 225 HO or a 200 Yamaha SHO, same thing as far as HP.
I think like you do. If you go Erya do the 250 SHO. Two reasons. First it is new and it has updated new styling. Second the SHO is also new and I think if you put a 200 SHO the true money difference will not be much if the boat is loaded the same. I bet there isnt $2000 difference. If you go with the p2 I would also do the SHO because it is new and if someone is selling their 1 or 2 year old p2 it is the same except they will not have this motor. Either boat would be the one I would stock but no one has a Erya and I think you will find some folks wanting the newer look including cat owners ready to move up from a p2 or p4.
Sorry Guys, as we speak we are NOT a Yammie dealer. First off Im not going to Risk another 2 yr old instock boat by putting a Not so tested yet motor, no offense Bama, like Ive told you and others Ive had Yamaha products since 1979, when I was 3. Now I may even go the dark side and power it with a Merc, as much as I hate to say that, BCB sells something like 93% of their hulls with Mercury Power, 5% or so Yamaha, and my favorite Evinrude with 2% or LESS!!!!!! Now on the motor subject the 200HO is a ANIMAL on the Pantera 2 or Pantera 4, so was the Series 2, the SHO is yet to be seen, I think it will run good. Im either thinkin a Sabre FTD with a 150 HO or the New 175 HO, or go all out and with Ivan and Ricks advice choose from a Pantera 4 (the truly perfect Bass Boat) Im in wisconsin guys, a 18ft Nitro gets looks here, these folks are Lund,Lund,Lund Crazy, anyways Id love to let my Brain go CRAZY on a Eyra, Im pretty sure with my choices and motor I could make some of you Old guys wet your pants!!!!!!!! Let the ideas flow, just Mercury and EvilRude for now though, if I get my way, which I usually do, we will be a YamaHammer dealer this year, for the best in fourstrokes…..BrannonYour Signature …
I wish that the Hammer SHO could be bought in a 175hp on a Sabre…..the 175HO is interesting though. Any difference in the HO and the XS?ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
Brannon I dont like the idea of a Sabre FTD with a 175. Way too close in price to the P2 with a 200. I think the P4 with the 200 HO or 200 Pro XS might be a great boat for you to stock. It has a great rough water ride for the larger lakes up your way. I would definitely consider the P4. Of course the Puma FTD is the hottest seller. By the way the Yamaha SHO is not “New” technology. No reason to be scared. They have been running SHO motors on dirt bikes and snowmobiles for years. The technology is the same as the current F250. Just in a larger block with aluminum to lighten her up.
Rick has said the Pantera II was once the top seller of all time until the 20 footers came out. I think the P II with your 200 Erude and if you push the envelope, the Eyra(when available) with 225 Pro XS.Now, Im not from the north (except for North Little Rock!), but I think you would bring an affordable “smaller” 20 foot boat to the table for crossover guys….ones that bass fish but also will fish for “toothy” critters. But that is just me, I am sure everyone drives faster than me(apparently a lot of times on the road also!). Just another opinion……….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I would listen to Rick! And consideration of Sabre FTD with 150 HO only needs to be a consideration and nothing more. Good luck with your choice.
BranonFrom a pure business point of view your choice should be a P4.Color it “nice”,not outrageous. Put a 200 HO on it. Put a HB 998 in the console and either a 788 or 858 on the bow.Add backup lights and the night stalker package. Also the grab bar and step. Your choice of TM based on what sells best in your area. Maximize on the gas tanks. This gives you a display premium package to show off the premium boats in console depth finders, the PUMAs layout, economy and speed of the big motor. Makes it eaiser to compare both the 20 footers and the new styling of the EYRA, as well as the other 19 footers (P2 and classic) as well as down to the sabre. Since there are not alot of P4s on the floor elsewhere, it is unlikely you will be stuck with a two year old boat (unless you go toooooo crazy with the colors), it should sell nationally. If you go with a sabre ftd and dont sell it regionally you may be stuck (look at outstanding inventory on the floor now elsewhere). If you go with the EYRA, you have nothing to compare the current line to.Just my old man opinion, but what do I know, Im stuck with two in my garage (and they are staying there).JimYour Signature …
1) Puma w/ 250hp2) Cougar Advantage Elite w/225hp3) PII w/2004) Pantera Classic daytripper package w/150hpYou should hit most demographics with these 4. Everything else could be ordered. Both #2 and #4 choices should be great price point boats if ordered properly. #4 is a great entry level package. Good Luck!
