I got a laugh about using the power poles as drift socks on Phils boat thread. On second thought however, has anyone tried lowering the poles and using them as drift socks? How did it compare to a regular drift sock?
Never used a drift sock so cant compare but I lower the poles in deepwater when its real windy all the time.It slows the boat down, makes it more stable, and straightens it out. Thats just the poles without those paddles you can get.Without the poles down the boat drifts toward sideways.
Lifetime guarantee on the sticks means Ive stuck those things in jetty rock, sand, mud, gravel, and trees. Have used for drift as well on Ouachita- helps some.C.O.D. Jr. III
I just did this at the Oneida Open with my Talons..its works very well. The Talon is a better platform for this..unless you have the Power Pole Paddels.I am also running the new 12 Talon which gives me more mass in the water to slow me down. Its another great use for the anchorsJamey
Works much better with the paddles than just the Poles alone. The paddles are also adjustable on the angle so you can decrease the amount of drag, if needed. With dual Poles, you can also lower just one to have the boat drift on an angle.
Ive often attached my 42″ drift sock to the eye on my power pole with a short rope and put it down, then when Im ready to move simply raise it up, run back to start another drift and send it back down. Works like a charm….
