2009 Opti 200 “ticking”…

I have a 2009 Opti 200 with about 8 hours on it. Yesterday I noticed a “tick” at idle and they increase with rpms. Sounds like a lifter tick on a car motor.Anyone have any advice or opinions?

Probably just a “reed tick”, and nothing to worry about. Does it run good ?

I believe what you may be hearing are the cowling latches rattling. They are on both sides of the cowl. Next time you start her up (water supplied to engine) go push on both latches and see if the sound stops. Mine does it from time to time….I just go back and reset the latch and I am all set. May need to be tightened up or add a touch of grease helps as well

Just want to be proactive if its something I should be worried about. I just got this boat. I would take it to a shop but its a pretty good distance away from where I live so I cant just run it by there on lunch…lol! Every two stroke has some reed flutter, though we are not identifying any of this as reeds.

If it was a latch the noise would be kind of irratic in my mind.Also, last time I wiped the boat and motor down I wiped around those latches and didnt notice they were loose. My opti ticks at idle- air compressor, it rattles at fast speeds- reeds, normal on optis.BAYOU BANDIT
