Well, Im not a merc fan but I have my first ever, and its a 09 225 Pro XS. Its in the shop. Yep you see it! It is in the shop and I should have got a 250 H.O Like I wanted….. Now I might end up missing my championship tournament this weekend due to a malfunctioning black motor….What to do??? Wish I could afford to switch!
ZB, It wont hurt to ask your dealer to loan you a boat for the tournament? My dealer helped me out when I had my BassCat on order. Sorry to hear the unfortunate news. Hang in there and hope you get on the right side of things. Keep us posted. Flyswatter
Zack so ya know Making Evinrude E-TEC statements ONLINE will not make you ANY Friends!!!!! Trust me buddy, im wearing my E-TEC Pro Staff shirt right now, that 250 HO is a ANIMAL on the BCB hull, now that “certain” guys have figured out the Drilling of the PVS holes on the Raker 2 or added a 24 FURY were still Rippin up the lake, so whats with the Merc??? Coils or what? These guys here will help ya, unfortunately for me being a Etec Kool Aid drinker 97% or so of all BCBs are Merc powered, and I sell Merc, they are a Good Motor, just prefer the Blue one…..If you need any help I run a Marina that sells both, Im only 40minutes from Fon du Lac, and 1 1/2hrs from BRP…….Check out my profile here and Drool over those 82-84mph 20 Foot Bass Cats……..If you wanna Trade UP call me also, Im kiddin, your boat is Bad Ass and really looks nice, even though the Aunt is Drinkin!!!! Brannon Call now if ya wanna 920-295-2069 marksqualitymarine.com ETEC Kool Aid Promoter……Oh so EVERYONE knows, the Hole Shot issues have been resolved by EMM programming, you HO guys will get a UPDATE,anyone concerned please call, Your Signature …
Im not sure what the problem is? They havent been able to tell me yet! Its been there since monday with no info??? Im going to call today to check on it! I only mentioned the E-tec because I have always had evinrude motors until this one! I was ok with it until the issue. Now it is really making me regret the motor. What kind of trade up deal??? Lol seriously
It cuts out on the take off, with a quick beep like its missing. Once it plains out it does the same thing without the beep. Just like a quick miss. Wide open it runs. I sure wish I had a 250 H.O though. Would be very happy. No offence to the merc guys.
Brannon, Thanks for keeping is updated on ETEC hole shot issues being resolved. Its good to have alternatives for the other 3-6% non Merc boater. My dealer only carries Hammers and Etecs. That being said Mercs are great engines hopefully ZB will get his boat back on the water in short fashion. I know how it is being up in the air with a tournament around the corner and you have boat issues. Hopefully his dealer will support him like mine has supported me.
Zack…You could have had the same problem with a Rude too. None of these things are bullet proof. I have owned both engines and I also prefered the Rude but my Mercs were also very dependable engines. I have no complaints with either of them. My buddy has a Suzuki that he also swears by but I would never own. The one thing about Mercs is that every dealer I have dealt with was very professional and Mercury stood by the product. There also seems to be many more Mercury dealers than Evinrude dealers. Hopefully it gets worked out for you.-Jason
Zach, It could be as simple as the reservoir on the engine being low on oil. That is really common and it may not have pumped up due to a line bent or restriction. No motor is fail free and we have seen arguments for all brands on issues. Sorry your having issues and we hope they get you worked out soon. BCB
Me too…..Its like being stranded. I cant go without a boat lol
just wondering if your guy was able to diagnose the motor? You really dont wanna trade a new motor, see with BCB you gotta trade motor, gauges, controls etc….its not cost effective, dont regret the Merc, its a Killer Motor, it just broke, anyone with experience with the new DI motors will tell ya, some break in 5 minutes some in 500 hours, so its a Turkey Shoot…Call anytime if you need info, BrannonYour Signature …
