Has anyone run the 4 stroke Yammie 250 on their Basscat? I’ll probably be ordering a new Cougar FTD or Puma at the end of the season, and am interested in the numbers on the 4 stroke. Anyone have experience with this engine? I like 2 strokes, but 4 strokes seem to be where we’re headed. Thoughts, comments?

They are new and are only a few owners out there. The first impression is the new Yamaha VMAX SHO is the real deal. Pushing the Puma FTD around 82. Real close to the 2 stroke counter parts.

06CatDriver,I had the opportunity to go for a test drive on a 21 Skeeter FX / 250 VmaxSHO at the Bassmaster Classic. The SHO is the real deal. The hole shot felt instant on the Skeeter (heavier boat then cougar) and midrange was even more impressive. We were doing 35-40 and the driver put the pedal to the medal. I have never experience being thrown in the back of my seat like that before going that speed on any boat Ive been in. You will be very impressed with the power performance of the 250SHO.Good luck!Flyswatter

I am glad to hear that. I will have the Erya with SHO 250.
