Will the HDS-8 fit in the dash of a 2010Puma FTD? and will it fit on the bow in the alloted area?Trying to put together a package for pricing on a Puma FTD,also motorguide or minn-kota? I know this is just opinions, but would apreciate input, have a a 06 Puma with 36volt motorguide was wondering about minn-kota , seems to be seeing more and more of these Thanks, Don

The HDS 7 is the largest lowrance to fit in the dash of the Puma/Cougars. 998Si on the HB. Not sure on the front, but I dont think there is an issue with the 8 up there, but tilting it almost straight up might not work to good. I see a lot being ram mounted, though I spear way too many waves to risk that. MK or MG – if you want the normal 45″ shaft it is personal opinion. I would have ssaid 100% MK but now MG is using stainless cable pullies. The plastic ones failed way too often. If youre going w/ a longer shaft (50 or 52) go MK.

I used an HDS8 while in TX last week, was very impressed with the quality / clarity of the display. I prefer the user interface of my LCX37c but it was impressive. Also, of note, the display seemed a lot brighter than the 997 I have on my dash. Sorry, cant help on which unit will fit.As for the trolling motor, Ive always had MG products. I really like them but have to say, using a Fortrexx for a couple days last week had me scratching my balding head. The MK Fortrexx had a very nice assist for raising and lowering, it was much smoother when starting up (the owner said it had a soft start motor ?), and i really liked the integrated transducer. Also, the shaft sure seemed a lot more beefy on the MK than my MG. Id give serious thought to a MK if I had to replace mine. Best of luck on the decision!Advantages are taken, not handed out…

An HDS 8 will fit in the dash of your Puma. I installed one in mine. The trick is the adapter plate behind the unit to allow it to fit. Patent pending!

I would like to see those pics too. I am installing an HDS 8 soon and had plates made to cover the hole from my 5″ screen. Id like to put the 8 in the dash. Can you still use the internal GPS?

The internal antenna still works but I have found that the external one works faster. I am still trying to figure out how to download photos on here. I can email them though.
