Al, If you look at the insert you will see 4 ridges that run on each side of the insert. I took a knife or some other sharp tool and scraped or “whittled” material off each of the ridges evenly as I could and would stick it in the pipe to measure how deep it would go. I tapped lightly into the hole, but not too hard to feel the how deep it would go and then pulled it out to scrape some more. I thought about a grinder, but was afraid it would take too much material off so that is why I used the scraping technique. I scraped until I got it to fit a third but not quite half into the hole. When you think you have enough material off remember to put some oil or other lubrication on the insert and pipe then use a board on top of the insert to hit with your hammer. The only ” gotcha” that I ran into was that if you dont take enough material off and you do force the insert in, then the hole will compress and your seat pin will not fit and then you will have to grind that larger. (done that too.) So just take your time and it will work just fine. Good Luck, Hope this helps, georgeLast edited by gclayfam on August 5th, 2009, 3:26 pm, edited 1 time in total.George
