My long time partner is a R guy. We fish together often. We alternate boats and pulling. Was out week before last and Truman got pretty rough and white capped-we was in the Eyra. Ride to the ramp was dry and smooth. Cross wind @ ramp. He backed trailer in a little shallow till I got centered then backed it in to right depth. Cat slid right on like baby in cradle. We never bash each others rigs. On the way home he fessed up. Said he liked fishing in the Cat better than his R. Better ride, better platform. But he also said he would never admit these words. I guess its a R prestige thing.

One of my buds has an R boat. Newer model boat that I fished out of for a week. After having that experience, I sure couldnt bash it. In fact, Id say theres a lot to like. Dont get me wrong, I dig my Cat but that R boat had my attention in comparison. Just sayin.

Hes had Cats before. When we fish in his rig he puts a spare Cat seat in the rear so I will feel at home. I wear a Cat cap in his rig, he wears his R cap in mine. Its all good. His rig has some features I like, my rig has features he likes. I was just surprised with his comment.

I fished out of a friends R for the recent ABA military tournament on Eufaula. We may have been able to access some of the backwater areas we were unable to float into if we were in my Puma due to the width of his boat. But we had a great time and I enjoyed every moment of it. Being out on the water with good friends cant be beat, regardless of who makes the fiberglass you are standing on. I plan on exploring those backwaters when I return to Eufaula in the fall with my cat.Last edited by rlb8s on May 20th, 2016, 11:01 am, edited 1 time in total.

I love my Eyra and am really impressed with how well it handles rough water and big boat wakes. I know its built for speed, but it sure handles the chop very well. All my partners mention it anytime I run over a boat wake at 60mph and hardly a bump

Bass Cat Boats

I guess Im lucky in that all my tournament partner and I have ever fished were Bass Cats. I fished a tournament with a Triton guy once and it wasnt bad. Fished with a guy that had an older R boat and it wasnt too terrible either. Neither like a BCB but not awful.

I would not have my BCB had it not been for my partner who owns a R boat. Hes the one who told me to check them out. That speaks volumes.
