When I got my 16 Puma FTD I put my LED stern light (3 yrs old) in and it failed to work. No big deal I had the one from the factory so I just used that. Got a new LED this week, put it in to test and it also failed to come on. Lightbulb went off in my head (pun intended), LED bulbs are polarity specific. I removed the alignment screw and installed the LED 180* out from normal and it worked. I drilled a new screw hole on the opposite side for the alignment screw and installed. Did this with the old LED and the new one and they both work flawlessly. Just a bit of info that may help anyone else in the future.

A question for you shef. Im a believer in anything led. Home, shop, and boat. Though I have been hesitate to go led on the stern light. My question is me and my better half night fish quite a bit. As I have light mount on either side of the boat naturally I done this because the light is a nuisance.(blinding, and bug attractors). Never the less the law. So How much brighter are they? We didnt see mention of passing USCG certification standards on Rescue Lights web site.

They are fairly bright and a much whiter hue. Brighter than standard. Thats why I like them, the further away they see me the better at the speeds we run.
