mooredville, exit 36 , looking for something local, not a national chain . I have been to the catfish place on 150, is it still open?Last edited by scubaman154 on April 14th, 2009, 1:37 pm, edited 2 times in total.
Yes, they are. The lake has finally got plenty of water and some stain to it. You have definitely got a prespawn/spawn thing going. Look for spawners in the ramsey creek area near the hot hole, but aggresssive prespawners can be had throughout the lake. The spots are mean!
The water was actually so high it was in the bushes which does not happen on Norman very often! Pretty funny running a spinner bait in high gin clear water and seeing the bass come up and destroy it! Also shakey head with Watermelon Candy trick worm works good and a jig. Went thursday and caught 20-30 in about 3 hours nothing real big around 2lb average but they are fun!
Fatboys at exit 36 has a country boys buffet that is great! And they do seafood on saturdays it is right beside the Days Inn, There are too many to name get a local guide where you are staying and you will find plenty!
OK what did you do with the fish?? All we have seen are runts(10″) and they are not biting!!!! been all over ramsey, near the nuke plant. also a few creeks south of 150, I am trying stumpy tommorrow!!! any other good spots?
Went Sunday just to make sure the boat would still run. I fished around the 150 bridge down to Mountain Creek and up to the State Park.Had one fish on a small crankbait about 2:45pm. I would definitely put in down and fish. I have never seen Norman this muddy in all my years fishing it.Godspeed,Mark
Still trying to help Bass Cat all I can. I worked the show in Raleigh for Neal and I also went back home to Anglers Choice to work the open house up there. I will land somewhere until I win the Lottery.Godspeed, Mark
Norman is a little tough right now. I wouldnt let the muddy water bother me.This past Saturday….had (5) decent ones. All five on shallow crankbaits. Had several pull off as well. Its a bite where youve got to sort of “drag” a shallow crankbait. The bite is like a wet towel being thrown on the bait.Good luck.
Carl,Lake Norman is as muddy as Ive ever seen it. The whole main channel is dirty. Greene Boat & Motor is hosting a tournament there on Saturday from safe light – 3 pm. You should come and fish then. I dont fish my own tournaments but Ill be down there fishing that day and can give you a report after it. From what I hear, there are some strong weights being caught right now.
