Ok guys I just bought a 2011 eyra. I was told the boat had seen 84mph completely empty with hardly any gas but you cant believe everything you hear. It has a 250 pro xs an a 27 fury that I just got worked and re cupped. With a light load the fastest Ive had the boat is 78.2 and thats with maybe 1/2 of one of the tanks of gas full and about 40 pounds if tackle/rods and me 175 lbs and a 24v tm my buddy had had 2 eyras and both would run 82-84.5. I have a bobs manual jack plate. Ive tinkered with the jack plate. At first I was turning 5700 rpms so I raised it and its turning 5850 now and picked up to 78 from 77. It has 25psi water pressure. Im just looking for some advice to get every ounce of speed I can out of it. Thanks
What is the air temperature and humidity when you got those numbers? It has to b a mid 50 degree morning for me to see 80 this time of year? Winter time low 80s anytime i want. Puma FTD is wht I have but the Eyra should be a touch faster I hear
Maybe a prop issue. If you can turn a 27 Fury at 5850, it should be moving. I bet Phil A can answer you when he reads this.
It was in the heat of the day when I got my numbers 95+
Also when I get it loaded pretty good like live wells full it barely gets on pad
27P a lot of prop. Id of thought a 26 would be better, especially for hole shot.
I run a 26 Fury 3/4 of the year and a 25 Fury in the summer on my Puma ftd with 250 Pro XS
Mallardman, every boat, motor combination is different even if its the same brand and same model. I dont think any major changes have occurred in the Eyra hull since introduction so Ill offer my setup. I have a 2014 Eyra and with limited seat time this is my experience. Results are from South Louisiana, hot, humid full load with all tackle that I own in the boat including 20 rod-n-reels and full tanks of gas. 36 volt troller with 4 big batteries, one power pole, and just about every option available in the rig which Im sure although small amounts, every option adds weight to a rig. I am running a 25″ Fury at 6050-6100 rpms and the best Ive seen is 80.6 mph. I have seen 81.6 mph with a 26″ Fury with the same load but Im running the 25″ because the hole shot is so important to me fishing here in the shallows of the marshes. Im confident that in the winter Ill be running the 26″ or maybe even a 27″ and Ill be seeing those 82-84 mph speeds. But for the summer time and a full load the 25″ seems to be the way to go. It does everything well with the 25″ and it comes out of the hole very, very good. Im tickled pink with the setup. 80 mph fully loaded is getting it done in my opinion and nothing to shake a stick at. One thing I learned and was surprised by is that the setup likes the motor to be run as low as you can go. The Classic that I owned for 14 years had a much bigger engine height range to play with. This rig however seems not to like height at all. So, drop that plate down all the way to the bottom and you may see some better numbers. I believe that Bass Cat has commented before that the Bobs hydraulic plate doesnt go as low as they like thats why they stopped rigging them from the factory. I run my Atlas plate just 1/2″ up, any higher and I find it looses speed.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Like stated above, I would go with a 26 Fury. I run either a 25 or 26 Fury on my 2013 Eyra depending on temps. If Im tournament fishing with a partner in the summer I will have the 25 Fury on 9 out of 10 times. It has a much better hole shot and doesnt pull the motor nearly as hard in the heat of the day.BrianBrianHAWG Hunter2013 BassCat Eyra2013 Mercury 250 Pro XS Gen2 L/U
Very interested in this discussion. I just picked up a 2011 with a 250 Pro XS, a Bobs Hyd Plate and a 26p Fury. Looks like I may have to pick up a spare prop in 25p Fury for the Summer. I dont want to steal this mans thread but anyone running a 4 blade?
