Smart Craft Gauges – cloudy lenses

The Mercury Smart Craft gauges on my 2002 Pantera lll have become cloudy and yellowed from age. Is it OK to use a clear plastic cleaner/polish designed for restoring auto headlight lenses (i.e. Meguiars PLASTX) on my Smart Craft lenses?Last edited by P3Cat on March 15th, 2012, 7:00 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I have the same problem on my Cougar FTD. You can use the PlastX but it will probably not help because the gauges are double lensed and the inner lense is the one that yellows the most. The only true fix is to buy the new style glass lensed Smart Craft gauges but at almost $800 for the pair, I didnt think it was worth it.

That was the reason for the change to NexSysLink gauges in 2011 model year. The outside ring does pop off and allow a better cleaning.
