I currently own a 2000 PIII with a 200Opti.Im looking at a 2004 P4 with a 200Opti.I know that they are different hulls,and that the P4 has it fuel tanks under the seats instead of in the rear.What about performance and ride.My P3 runs well,handles rough water with no problems,is s blast to drive and with a load will run around 69. What would I be gaining by going with a P4? Any input would be appreciated.Thanks!

Hi, I owned a 1999 P IV w/a 200 Opti (2.5l ) for 9 yrs. and I now own a 2008 P IV w/a 200 Opti (3.0 l). I guess that the first thing that comes to mind would be the hole shot. The P IVs hole shot is very impressive w/a 25 Trophy and will flat knock your socks off with a Fury! I think that there would be no comparison to the hole shot of a P III.The layout is great, and the net holder is something youll wonder how you lived without. I do miss the day box on the P III,, but I guess on the P IV its just a lot bigger. Top end may drop 1-2 mph depending on load. Rough water ride is as good if not better than the P III. Although, I havent been in a lot of rough water since Ive owned the P IV. All in all I would say that you would be pleased with the move. Im sure others will come on with their opinions. I have owned a 2007 P4 only a few months and during the short time I have used the boat it is quite impressive. The reason I selected the P4 over the P2 after a lot of deliberations was the ability to handle and ride comfortably in rough water and the overall layout. The 200hp Yamaha is running a stock prop and hole shot is excellent. My P4 has a 33 gal. fuel tank and 2 rear saddle tanks at 10gal. each. As I stated one of the main reasons I decided on the P4 is how it handles in rough water and it seems every time I have been out in it that is what I have encountered weather it is due to wind or heavy boat traffic. To be honest I have not had enough calm water or safe light when it was calm to really open it up as I am still getting the feel for it. I do know that at 5300 rpms the gps read 65mph and there was plenty of throttle remaining. I believe obtaining the 68-71 mph range is very obtainable. I have noticed that the boat runs well with very little trim compared to my old ride. The wide front deck is great when you have 2 people fishing up front. There is more storage then you will ever need. The console can accomadate up to a 7″ sonar unit was another plus. I am running a 36v trolling motor with 3 dedicated batteries. Try to get a ride in a P4 and I think you will be sold! William
