This is specific to Talon and not interested in the Power Poles are better direction discussions. Its application on the water is impressive but not what Im looking for me and my personal use.In the video below Im impressed with the ability to tilt Talons for the obvious. Next question. How easy is it to to remove and store. If Im going to fish ledges and off shore structure no need to have it on my boat. Also, by appearance I am not a fan of shallow water anchor systems but with the Talon, if I was to get one it would offers me the ability to remove ii I decide to get one.Still on the fence. Personally for me they are overpriced to motivate me to open my wallet at this time. Last edited by Flyswatter on March 17th, 2013, 1:07 pm, edited 3 times in total.
They are too much trouble to remove for a one day excursion. The nice thing about them being removable is to use them on another boat, such as pontoon or duck boat.

I just dont like the look of them on my Bass boat. Also, really like the forward folding option if I had it on and storing in my garage. All moot point because I”m not longing for shallow water anchors enough to warrant $1,500 to $3,000 for my recreational use at the moment. Now I am sure those that have them swear by them so all good on both fronts. Last edited by Flyswatter on March 17th, 2013, 3:46 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I still cant wait until someone designs one where it is a series of larger tube after larger tube and this all fits into a canister no bigger than a tennis ball can on the back of your boat.. it can be done… strength is going to be the issue.. but you can fit a lot of rod into a small area if you make it retract properly..
I know they dont look as high tech as a Talon or a PP, but is good electric or hand crank anchor system not feasible on a bass boat? Are there any out there that will fit nicely on a Sabre, etc., and allow you to lock the anchor in place once retracted so it doesnt beat the boat up? I guess Im old school, but I just cant get used to the look of a Talon or PP hanging off my boat. Just my preference.
For removing the Talon,I would suggest the addition of the optional plug in wiring accessory, which gives you a waterproof plug-both male and female near the Talon that facilitates easy removal. We just rigged one for a customer on a new Margay and it was pretty slick! CRS Marine Service,NY
Ive got one on my cougar that I only use at a couple of the lakes I fish . I also dont like having it on the boat when not needed so I just spliced my power cable with a plug inside the boat and remove the 4 bolts to make the change . The bracket stays on the jack plate but I dont even notice it when not in use . I upsized the 4 bolts from 5/16 to 3/8 s.s. just for my own piece of mind and the slots in the bracket were already cut to fit the larger size .

This Talon Anchor is getting my attention. Heck, I may just leave it on there but I like the idea that you can remove it. Its an expensive option not to use all the time but also like the convenience removing it. I know my bro will be dog cussing me having it back there when we fish. Clang!!!!!! I can hear him saying I “that the SOB pole you got back here its a piece of crap….”. Just another reason for two brothers to jaw at each other. Then again, If its fairly easy to remove I can save the the jawing for something else while we are on the water.
Fly, its easy to remove with these accessories. Quick disconnect power plug and Quick release handle kit both are on Minn Kota Talon Accessories page.
