Are any parts available from Perko for their latches? I have one that the handle has broken off of. The locking handle is fine, it is the part that goes through the latch and turns, and has a cross-driollad hole in the top that the locking handle engages. Is this available or do I need to buy the entire latch? Did not see any obvious parts at perko, but am going to ask them as well on Monday.Last edited by oldtimer57 on December 18th, 2016, 5:21 am, edited 1 time in total.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
The T handle latches they should have returns in stock from upgrades that were traded in.
Are you talking about BCB parts or the Perko company itself? I am assuming BCB?2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

BCB I have a broken latch. Everything from the inside in broke off a while ago (cant find them now). Anyway did you say that there was a trade in? I would like to do that if possible. Otherwise is there any chance I can get a hold of the parts from the silver handle on down ( the inside shaft)? Tks.
They had some fom trade ins and they may have your style.

I talked to Alan (Allen? Never asked him how to spell his name) in parts at BCB. Ive decided to go the Southco route and replace them all. Have a couple of Perkos with different keys so it will be nice to get that completely cleaned up. I looked at all 10 of them carefully when that one broke. Found two more with stress cracks where the handle attaches to the black composite through-pin. Found two with stress cracks in the threaded pin where the previous owner had (I presume) dropped the lids with the handle in the latch position or something, and then straightened the shaft back out. Was real annoying to have the rod box handle break off leaving nothing to grab to open or lift the lid. Fortunately I had a good flat-blade screwdriver that a little persistence and effort was enough to wear a slot in the shaft. This ought to fix that and other potential problems as well. Not cheap, but the Southcos do look to be pretty stout in addition to being 100% stainless everywhere.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
Old timer just curious why you went the southco route. My p2 has whitecap latches they are flimsy as well. They leak water pretty bad also. Though I contacted whitecap and they sent me some new orings. Along with the new orings and plumbers grease I got the water leaks stopped. Though the t handles are forever bending. I had been looking at the marinetown latches with the larger paws. I was just waiting on a little time to go by as bcb just started using these in 16 I believe.. waiting to here if they were having any trouble with these.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
When I talked to BassCat, they suggested the Southco latches as a direct replacement. Comes with multiple locking arms so you can get the right offset (my classic has several different arms depending on which compartment. I was looking for all-stainless and Alan (Allen?) recommended these. He said the new marine town locks were problematic on older boats, but could be made to work with some effort. Since the Southcos were solid stainless and supposedly do not leak, that seemed like the simplest solution. Slightly cheaper, but not much, too. You could give BCB your year/model and they might suggest the marine town for all I know.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
