BCB Started replacing the factory compartment lights with Blue Water LED. Started with the right rear storage box on my 08 Sabre FTD by cutting the leads going to the light set. I tested the led light strip by holding the positive to positive and negative to negative…….nothing no light. After checking the power leads with the multimeter it showed 5.56 volts. The leds need somewhere close to 12 to work. Is there a stepdown resistor somewhere in the circut for the compartments lights? What is the voltage capacity of the lid switch? Thanks in advance for any help. John
There is no step down that we are aware of. The output voltage on the system should be 12 volts. The system must have a touch pad and security system on it. If so then check output voltage there. BCB
So, I have been having issues with my incandescent compartment lights in my 07 Puma and decided to install the Blue Water LEDs. I started in the front center compartment replacing the lights with an LED strip. It worked just fine. I moved on to the starboard rear compartment, and by then the front compartment lights had timed out (I assumed), The starboard lights were working, I replaced them with an LED strip, and they didnt work. I thought maybe the lights needed a few minutes to reset after timing out, so, I waited, but no LED lights on either of the compartments were working. I decided to look and see if other compartment lights were workiing. When I opened the port rear compartment, not only did the light in there come on, BOTH OTHER COMPARTMENT LIGHTS CAME ON ALSO! After giving it some thought, I thought maybe whatever sensor turns off the lights after 10 minutes, might not me sensiing enough current with the LEDs to reset. When I hooked up the regular lights along with the LEDs, it worked! So, right now I have re-done 3 compartments by making Y connectors and hooking up both the LED, and the old lights. It is the only way I have been able to make them work. Questions for BCB: How does the auto light shut-off work? Do you think the lack of current draw is the problem as I am guessing? Any suggestions to resolve? Im assuming the security system works by sensing the current draw when compartment lights go on. Will LEDs alone draw enough to set off the alarm? Why do I have so many light problems… Thanks
Love the Avatar….McLovin….haa haa Great movie
That is a programmed timer in the software. There is no way we know to reset it. Though we have not faced this as we have not done LED lights. We will do some light research, though we wont be reprogramming for LED lights. The shut off should eliminate the need for LED since there is little amperage drained on the lights. Till now we have not looked into this as our system seems to work as designed.
Guys, simply call Bluewater, all of my guys had to Bypass the BCB system because of the Amp difference, ask Halls1030, Wayne, or Ron Vlach, they are all Upgrading to the LED, they seem to like them over the old school incandescent lighting, I guess thats their preference…..Your Signature …
And they knocked out their Security System feature in the process, unless they do an added feature. BCB
I am not adding the bluewaters into the storage lockers, as that would have issues with the security system. I am just tapping into the accessory switch that runs the Marty Stone crystal and running that power into a panel with 2 way switches to control the lights on the deck. BCB what is the added feature? If you tell me will you have to kill me?
Good Idea Ron, Like BCB said it kills the 1 feature of the panel, thats cool draw wise that you have the crystal, Tom had a cool idea I simply forgot what it was…..when are you leaving for Mt.Home, and do you know what day you come home? Shoot me a call, dudes are gonna love your boat down their, I wonder how many 35th anniversary boats will be down their, that combo of coral is cool also, BCB said that Coral was one of the companys favorites also, It really grows on ya, especially in person….Travel safe Bud and hopefully I get to shoot down their, Im kind of nervous to bring my Subaru down their, Last time it cost $3500 to get back!!!! But that was My luck……Your Signature …
I was going to get a crystal done of my father in law that passed away and I think Halls was going to get one done of his family. $3500, how fast were you going to get that kind of ticket? It looks like I am heading down a day earlier than planned, Monday. Then I will be heading back on the Saturday after the OI. My brother has to catch a flight back to California on Sunday.
