I need to remove the fenders on my trailer to make some fiberglass repairs on the fenders. Does anybody have any tips on how to remove them to where they can be re-used? thanks Johnny

Heat the lower plate with a butane or propane torch. Then the adhesive will soften and they should be able to be jacked off the frame plates. Be sure you remove the frame bolts first. BCB

My son mentioned using a windshield removal knife to cut thru the adhesive. As I understand it it is some kind of a heated air saw, has BCB ever tried that? Anyway thanks for the answer. Johnny

If you have access it should work good. We use a jack slowly as we are not usually concerned with the previous fender condition.

access angle for the blade might be a problem. I had to remove a fender and heated the 2 metal plates as suggested by BCB with a small propane torch. Heated it until the glue started smoking and the fender lifted right up without using jacks. No damage at all to the fender.

Thanks guys for the comments. When we get the fenders done I will try to put some pics on here. After the repairs we are going to spray them with DuPont rockgard and go back with Rasberry Metalflake to match my hull. Also instead of the rubber on the steps we are spraying black Rhino lining in those places. Johnny
