Functional difference between high and low profile windshields?

My last boat was a lund, it had a big high windshield that was great when things got rough–I often fish a very big lake where heavy wakes and lots of big wind-driven waves make that nice. My new to me 03 Classic has the low-profile windshields. This boat is 25mph faster than my previous one, and the windshields dont seem lie they do much to stop the wind. I havent had it out in any kind of waves yet, but Im also questioning their effectiveness at doing much to counter any spray at low and moderate speeds. I know its not designed to be the same as my Lund, but how much more “protective” from wind and spray are the higher-profile windshields?I also have a fitted aurora cover that appears to be designed for the low-profile windshields. Are the higher windshields enough of a difference that the cover might not fit? Seems like it could be an issue.Thanks, and hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving among friends and family!Dave

Yes the cover will be a challenge. The windscreens will turn air though water will not chase up the vee bow your previous model did. Your spray should be greatly less than your accustomed to. You will have to learn to tack through waves instead of busting through. The spray you get will be blow back from wind at the side unless you spear one. Just watch getting in a hurry in rougher water. The higher windscreens were available if you decide you want to change.

If you decide to change wind screens, any reputable local boat top maker should be able to modify your Aurora cover very reasonably. I suggest local because it would be best in that case to take the boat to him with the new screens on so he can modify it properly.

Does anyone have a photo or couple photos that compare the low profile vs higher profile windscreens? Ive looked around a bunch and all I can find are older boats that have clearly different windscreens or newer boats with clearly different windscreens–cant seem to find any photos of my vintage windscreens to compare. Im wondering about at least getting a look at the higher-profile winscreens for my 03 classic. If youve got a 99-2003 classic or Sabre with high-profile windshield Id love to see a photo so I can see what it looks like and compare how high it comes on mine. Thanks in advance!

BCB is the 2006 Classic the same windshield as the 2003?Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!

Had the low profile on my 99 classic , and put the high ones on , as Im 68″ . — The difference is 1 1/2 inches . — Hoss

Thanks! 68″ is TALL, Im only 63″ but definitely get the full force of the wind directly in my face. If its only 1.5″ extra I cant imagine its a significant difference though. Thanks for the insight.

If anyone out ther has a set of high 702 windshields that they want to trade for my low-profile ones let me know…otherwise Ill buy a set of the high ones.
