The rake is from the passenger leaning back, and flexing the plastic backing. Newer models have all fiberglass backing to prevent this memory. The seats are mounted on an aluminum internal frame that is fastened. Check the seat to be sure it is secured, and then you can proceed with which ever direction you prefer.
