Chickamauga Tips?

I have a small tournament on Lake Chickamauga this Sunday. Never seen the lake so was wondering if anyone had any tips they would be willing to share. Thanks

Chic is a ledge lake or flipping style this time of year with bank line fishing early and perhaps some stump and tops fishing. The ledges in the main reservoir river channel are simple to read and if you can find the fish holding in the right cuts you can replicate that pattern. Thats all we know about it for now. Check the local lake magazines also.

Appreciate that. I looked on google-earth and saw it a river type lake. I can dig on ledge type fishing. Should have the upper hand there with the BC!

In the local big tournys right now it has been taking 30+ lbs to win. Chick. is a great lake w/ some big fish. Couple weeks ago it took 32+ lbs to win w/ a 10+ lb. big fish winner. BCB is dead on w/ the ledge fishing and it has alot of grass in it too. It is almost another Guntersville. Of course current has alot to do with the fish catching too. Good luck and I hope you find them.

30 lbs Wow!!!Are these ledges deep over 15 or shallow?What type of bait fish does it have – blue backs?

I dont think it has Bluebacks, mostly shad. Several years ago TWRA stocked florida strain largemouth and they have left the grass alone for the most part. Lots of bluegills and forage. The lake is really taking off.

Most of the ledges are over 15. With the grass you can catch fish shallow (and maybe get a few big bites), but most of the better fish will be deep. Threadfin shad I believe is the main baitfish.

bass 1958. Is this an open tourney? I have never fished the lake but i would love to give it a try sunday. Do you have any contacts or info available? Thanks Trey

92nphigh; This is a small local club – only 11 boats. Guess if you join club and pay memebership dues, then pay the lake entry fee I dont see why not. We have been meeting every other month so paying the next two lake entry fees. I dont know the rules…I just fish. If it were me I would say come one come all, but not sure how that would work. Ill ask the TD.
