Foils for hole shot?

They will help if you are rear-end heavy. But they look pretty ugly. The better they look, the less they help. The old “whale-tail” type of hydrofoil was really pretty good but it made the motor ugly as sin. If everything is right, they are not needed.

Foils Cover up for a poorly set up ride imho.

The Allison type foils are pretty solid and do make for a flatter holeshot. The configuration has no effect on speed or running performance. It’s completely out of the water above low speeds. Search Bryan’s Foils on BBC in the Bullet Boats forum. I really like mine. I load heavy to the rear to minimize load speed loss. The plate gives me a flatter, quicker launch, and keeps me planed at much lower speeds. The shape doesn’t effect how water comes off the prop, so no top speed impact at all.
