Thinking about replacing the Motorguide with the Fourtrex 101. Tired of bent shafts and cable adjustments. I have a 2005 Puma Wide Body. Trying to make sure the foot control will fit in the recess on front deck. I think Ike runs a Fourtrex in the Cougar.Anybody have an answer??Milton

I went from a 109 MG to a 101 Fortrex on my 02 Jag, no problem fitting the foot control in the recess. I loved the Fortrex and will have another on the next rig. Im running a motor guide on my PIV and miss the fortrex in the weeds as well as the lift assist.

It fits the in the well fine. I have a 101 Fortrex on my 06 Puma.

Steeler34,While I try to be reasonable, the best thing that could happen would be to get rid of that POS MG. I had one that came new on my 2011 PII. It was so bad MG replaced the unit free of charge. I asked their customer service department, ” why would I want to install another MG unit on my boat with the poor service it has delivered?” The cs rep would not reply. One of my friends that has now purchased two BCB boats on my recommendation would completely agree. Ask Richey Bolton. He has the same story as mine.I fully understand that trolling motors are a dice roll. I lost about $500 in the cost of moving to a Fortrex, but I have never looked back. Offered to build MG a website, but they declined on my offer. The web site would have http://www.mgs***.com. Since I have no sponsorship, there are no issues with me voicing my opinion.

Ive had MG on all of my boats except one. I have never had any problems with a Motorguide. The only problem I had was with the MK.

It is amazing–if you get a good one, you have a good one. If you get a POS, you have a POS. Regardless of brand, it looks like the quality control seems to slip by. ????

Food for thought,make sure it will fit your cover.The Fortrex is taller than the MG.
