MLF pay out

Ok how or what do these get for fishing the MLF and is there a money for 1st place or just bragging rights.

The heck with what the pros make, I want to know what the refs make. Sign me up – I want to be a ref for MLF.

The Refs were mostly from Tulsa area and transport the rigs into the areas. The payout is not what MLF is about and these anglers are building their own brands and organization. BCB

Ive enjoyed them more the past couple years. Think part of that is because they have fished northern waters which we dont see a lot of coverage on. I like watching them on small mouth waters. I just watched the final round last night that I had TVOd. Watching KVD with a spinnerbait is amazing especially fishing if off shore. The others had some amazing bites too.

I know its not about the payout, just asking if they do get paid, maybe a flat fee and does the winner get anything.

I emailed them and asked. Let me copy you their reply in here…. Becoming a MLF Boat Official requires much more involvement that that of an Observer or Marshall. All of our current Boat Officials are located in and around the Tulsa, OK area where our total operation is headquartered. The reason for this is that they use their own vehicles to haul the competition boats to each event, and they go through continual training at our main office. I would guess guys that this is an investment for the anglers themselves. Advertising generates income as does addition of more anglers or Internet purchase of full show. Id bet return on investment largely based on investment success and is pretty close to equal for initial creators/investors. KVD looked happy to win but not like he just took home 100k today.C.O.D. Maybe Im wrong (wouldnt be the first time) but I thought it was $50,000 winner take all. Or maybe that was Ultimate Match Fishing. I watch too darned much tv. One brand certainly thrived under the MLF format. Some others not so much. The thing I enjoy most about watching KVD is hes so good at breaking down a technique as he fishes. Where and why he picked a spot, what bait and why, and how to fish it. Equipment, boat position, etc. Very informative.
