How can you tell what prop I have. It is a 4 blade trophey but I cant find any #s can just barley make out the trophey name and it is stamped P.Martin Its on a 98 Classic 200 merc.Prop is in excellent shape no nicks or dings.Father in Law drove my boat the other day and he said it felt like it was slipping to him on the hole shot. This is the first boat for me so I have nothing to compare to. Going to drive his next time to see what the difference is. Also was under the boat measuring the bunks for replacement and noticed some small nicks on the botton 4 to 5 eraser size nicks maybe 1/8 in deep, I think I can see some fiberglass fibers in a couple of them they seem stable to me but is this something I .need to fix ASAP. If I take it to basscat can they inspect and repair these or do they do this type of work. Any idea on cost of this type repair. thanks in advance.
I would look on the internet and see if they have a fiberglass repair shop in your local town or city. I would take it in there and see what they would charge you. I am sure it is around $95.00 an hour for repair. You may want to contact Basscat to see if they can come up with the exact color or mixture of the gel coat. If they have records of your boat colors they should be able to get you the color. Prop: Do you have a spare prop? It sounds like that prop is pretty old and maybe it is time to make that old prop your spare. I would ask your local dealer when the new Pro XS prop is going to be out and purchase a new prop. Fathers day is around the corner so tell the wife thats what you would like. Good Luck!!
Here is my thread about my Trophy from a 1998 Sabre with some pictures. Also on some props if you take the prop nut off the same # you see , or should see, on the side like minehttp://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/251 … atmbJywXz0
I looked at your pics got a flashlight and found the #s on mine they were just hard to see with my old eyesDid the ring fix your issue I may end up trying some different props
Got the ring on, but will not have the boat in the water until KABCOT on June 15th. It did fill the area between the hub and lower unit. Instead of having 1/2″ gap it is more like 1/8″. I think it will definitely reduce exhaust coming out and over the prop.
