My dash mounted lowrance 480 GPS quit working. Not getting any power to it. Ive tried wiggling plugs didnt work. Any suggestions on where to start trouble shooting before I try to remove from dash. (2006 PIV )

Yes, try putting the prongs of a voltmeter in the plug to see if you have power to the unit. If so then the unit will have to be returned to Lowrance. If you do not have power to the plug, verify that you have the master switch on, and try the ignition switch also. Then if you dont have power start tracing it backwards. It would be in a connection. Just curious. Doesnt this model have an in-line fuse? LOZman

Yes theres an inline fuse shown in the owners manual page 33, showing an inline fuse at the battery. I will check that out tomorrow. Sorry missed that yesterday when I was going through manual. Ill check that first then work my way back to the actual plug at the unit.. Thanks BCB.

Just a follow up. Got a chance today to check wiring and everything to the GPS. There is power to the back of GPS unit but unit doesnt power up.

Just received my second Lowrance LMS480m GPS unit this past weekend. After going back and forth with trying different things with the first LMS480 Lowrance sent me which never worked, they sent me another. This unit had a Blue connector system and was set by the factory, so all I had to do was re-install my LGC2000 which I had sent back to the factory because we thought it was the problem, and install the new LMS480. Everything worked fine. BCB, a suggestion, when installing the LGC2000 or 3000 receivers, use a bolt that screws into the receiver then a wing nut to tighten it down. You have to be a contortionist to get a screw driver in there to remove it.
