I have a 94 Pantera and the livewell always passively fills. I dont want to fill it until I put fish in it. Do I need to add a shutoff valve between the pump and livewell or do I have a defective valve?

Hmm, That was before our time and we cant take a trip down memory lane? We thought there was a livewell cut off switch that was push in pull out, located under the control box. That might have come along in 1995 though. If it does not have a livewell control valve, then you will have to plug the livewell. We have those in parts and they are a hard size to come by. BCB

My 92 Sabre had the “push in/pull out” livewell valve. Knowing that the valves fail eventually, once it di, I just took the screen off the drain hole and put a plug in it. It has the push in pull out, I replaced the valve about 4? years ago. It still filled up passively then but that made me able to pump it clear full.

There are several versions of this same valve and unless you have a BCB version they do not all work the same. BCB
