Topic: charger mounting question

I have a question regarding a “95 pantera II. I will be mounting a “Dual Pro” 3 bank charger. There is a “step” in the rear compartment where the batteries are currently mounted on approx. 6″ high from the very bottom of the hull. I plan on spanning the gap between the 2 steps with braces and mounting the charger on the braces. Question is how long of a screw can be safely used at that location and how thick is that step? Is there air gap below that step or foam? The battery trays are screwed into that step but Im unsure of whats beneath it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I replaced my old one with a Dual Pro 3 bank and mounted it to the rear Transom where the old one was, if I had it to do over I would of made a brkt and mounted it to the rear seat post, or better yet in my mind would of been to mount a brkt with 3 plugs (male/female type) and just the wires from the female side going to the batteries with the boat then not mount the charger and have 3 plugs that can easily be plugged in. Drop the charger on the deck plug the 3 plugs in an power. Save the 22lb of weight from the boat, MORE lures can then be taken LOL …. I do think the higher you mount the better though. you are getting down there by mounting flat across that flat.

Youll be fine mounting the charger there, and use maybe a 3/4″ long screw(stainless), pre drill the holes 1/8″ dia. and use polenty of good silicone to seal the screwholes under the charger.(you might even try mounting with just silicone ?) Those are floatation boxes, and are filled with foam, so you dont want any seepage into those compartments. Most of the current chargers on the market are waterproof and wont be hurt by moisture, but be sure and tie up the leads from the charger which are stubbed out for the remote gauge, as there have been some instances of these causing some issues. The entire floor has foam chambers below it that must be sealed. If you drill there, use a good silicone sealant, and a tight screw fit. BCB

Thanks for the info. This has got to be one of the most informative owners site there is. Every day it makes me glad I bought a BassCat ! Although its used it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Thanks again.
