One reason being to help avoid the risk of hull blistering due to prolonged periods of contact with wet carpet. This was not as big of an issue until the EPA started messing with what they can use in their resins. Another reason being the prevention of transporting invasive species, such as zebra mussels, caught in the carpet between the hull and the bunks. Some places in Calfornia require everything to be clean and bone dry before entering lakes, so as not to unwittingly transport things from one lake to another. This is how giant salvinia has been transported to Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn, and pretty near every lake in the area.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
