More than likely overrev alarm. Youre engine is rated 5750 rpms on top, so go down with the plate instead of up, or try a 25p prop.

Better watch your rpms my friend!! This motor is rated for 5750 on the tach!! Remember every time you over reach the RPM limits the computer on the motor documents it!! The reason why this is so important is if a maintenance issue arises and this is a new motor with warranty Mercury has the option to void warranty!!!

I run a 25 Fury on mine. It will run a little over 73 by myself then it hits the limiter at 5750. If you run light you will need to go with a 26 Fury. If you load it down, the 25 will be perfect. Oh yeah, dont rev it up in neutral. That will get you an Over rev alarm also. I think it beeps at like 2000 rpms in neutral. You need the 25 fury to get off the limiter. Rev limiter like said before is 5750rpm, but depending on engine load the computer will very 50rpm give or take. If you run in cooler weather and lighter load you may also like the 26 fury. If you hit the limiter and horn goes off and you stay into it the computer will limit power (guardian)and if you still stay into it can and will drop you down to idle speed to protect engine. To reset guardian mode after such an event you need to return the shifter to neutral. That will reset the computer and take you out of gaurdian mode.
