I have posted on here before about police officers killed in the line of duty but now in my 20 years of doing this job I thought I had seen almost everything. Obviously not. A local police officer kidnapped his police officer girlfriend at gun point and hid out with her in a abandoned house. Miraculously the hostage was freed but then this guy took his own life before SWAT got to him. Why does this happen? I just dont get why someone with a promising career would throw it all away over a break up. We all go through personal issues but so many officers think that taking their own life will solve their problems. It sickens me that this happens. Pray for this dead mans 3 children.

Yellowcat, Ive been on the job for 16 years, with 5 dealing with IA issues, and 13 in the military before that. I can tell you that we have the same problems that everybody else has, BUT: Our stress level is way higher and what is “normal” for us to see day to day would not be normal for the average joe. This allows us to deal with things that other people cant and reach great highs, but it also can let us drop to great depths when faced with personal issues we cant handle. Keep your head up and be proud of the 99.9% that serve with honor. Mike

Thanks LEOs for all you do for us, and our prayers do go out for you all, and this mans family…………..Very sad, tragic event, and one none of us would presume to understand. D.
