Recirculation/Areator pump swith

For some reason while I was out on the water fishing a tournament, both of my recirculation and aerator pumps switched off. After catching my first bass, I put both switches on 5 mins. During the day I happened to notice that both lights were off. I put them on 5 again. This happened a second time about 2 hours later. Once I got home, I checked my wires under the console as well as my wires in the battery area. I could not find any reason for issue to happen. Does anyone have any insight on what might be causing this??

Sounds like it could be the relays, the little round plug looking things near steering wheel possibly going ad or getti g bad connection. What year boat?

How about battery voltage? It sounds like the relays could have overheated, though that is very rare. The ground issues could be surfacing which requires a check of the wires on the rear terminal block, drivers side of transom, behind fuel tank often. Grounds can cause all sorts of issues so be sure you check each terminal. It also could be a faulty aerator pump.

Thanks. I didnt look at the voltage but I will next time I go out. The only other thing that has happened was I added a fourth battery for my MinnKota 101. But since all of the electronics run off of the cranking battery, I didnt see any loose connections there. I checked both positive and negative connections. As for the pumps, they both shut off both times today. It didnt sound like a pump failure. I am leaning towards faulty control panel.

It would seem logical that if you switched from 5 min to manual when the pumps stop working, and the pumps work in manual, that would eliminate everything except the timer board. Just sayin.

I spent a good part of my life designing and maintaining some very complex weapons and navigation systems. During that time I found that trouble shooting without logic is a process doomed to failure ( usually called Easter egging). Ill admit that some problems defy logic, but in the vast majority of cases they do not. Trouble shooting any system without the benefit of documentation or schematics is difficult at best.

To clarify, when I noticed that the timer had turned off on both systems, I pressed the button until it lit up the 5 minute spot and the pumps started working again. A few hours later I noticed that they went off again so I pressed the button again until the 5 minute light lit up and the pumps worked. I checked all of my wiring and found nothing. Is this a sign that the relay may be going out?thanks for all the replies.
