I use it everytime I put the boat in the water or take it out. I fish alone most of the time. When I launch, it makes it so easy to step into the boat. When I load the boat onto the trailer, it sure makes it easy to get out of the boat at the ramp. It has saved me falling on my rear end many times. It also is a bit of a help when driving the boat onto the trailer, you can use it as something to line up the bow as you drive on. I cant think of any downside to owning one.
