Alternatives to perko latches

So broke the third perko latch on boat in as many years and was wondering if there are any alternative designs, like slam latch, etc, that will work well. Perko stuff is good but folks just keep stepping on boxes without turning latch handle and you know what happens next….

I was hoping there was another design that you dont have to twist to open. Know it sounds lazy but I dont like having to twist the latch every time I open. Seems like when youre in tournament and in hurry you often dont twist shut and step on latch either breaking handle (southco would fix that), your foot, or the post below when it hits compartment wall. Any other options?

There is a slam version though you still have to twist to open that apparatus. BCB

Take the arms off the bottom of the latch and then attach nylon strapping to the side of the box lid and create a pull loop. Champions use to have this but your box lids wont snug down.
