Got to take out my new Margay with 150 ProXS today. It was a demo boat and was broken in so we had a little fun. I had the dealer add a few things. The boat now has a hot foot and steering wheel trim. This made the boat much easier to drive than during my initial test. I am running a tempest 24p prop and 6 inch manual jack plate The boat gets out of the hole okay. We had a moderate load of tackle and almost a full tank of gas. We saw 62.7 upstream and tickled 67 going down. The RPM were around 5900. I feel like the boat may be able to turn a 25 and am curious if anyone is running one with that set up. I feel like there may be 2 mph left in the boat, sure would like there to be anyway. Will play with engine height a bit. Boat walks around a bit and is a little harder to correct than some of the larger Cats I have driven. I had my dealer, Regal Marine, add a stereo. They did a great job on the install. I am not sure where the factory systems have the speakers mounted but they put them in the gunnels right at the hip of the driver and passenger. They removed the seats to put them there. Looks great. They added a keel guard and fixed the livewell issue I identified during the test drive. For some reason BC put the pump out on the side of the livewell. This leaves about 2 inches of water in the livewell. The great folks at Regal added a drain to the bottom of the livewell. They tied it into an open and close valve and ran a new line out of the back of the hull. The result was awesome. The live wells drain great. I cant imagine why BC did not identify this as a problem and is not offering to help dealers with this MUCH needed modification. I still need to upgrade the electronics and add a 12 volt outlet which BC also omitted. I know it saved a few bucks but this should be a standard feature. I was very pleased with how the boat performed today. We did identify one other issue. We parked at the boat ramp as a good downpour came by. The boat was leaning slightly to starboard and the front starboard storage had several inches of wate in it. The water was pooling where the console meets the starboard aft corner of the lid and was running in like a river! Trying to figure out if I can drill a hole to keep this from happening in the future.Any way, back to my original question….anyone running a 25 pitch on a Margay with 150 ProXS? Thanks. Rick.
