This is a follow up from an earlier post. Got a 2007 GMC…all lights and brakes worked fine on trailer for 3 months. Last week, right brake light on trailer stopped working. Replaced light assembly (old one was fine) still no brake light….all other functions okay. Bought a new plug for the truck with approximately 5 inch jumper line…..everything worked fine including brake light on right side….problem solved. But, low and behold, after second trip, brakes locking up when I try to back up the trailer. Put the old plug back in and backs up fine….but still no right rear brake light. So, to and from the lake Ill go with the new plug…when I get to the ramp, Ill swap out with the old plug so I can back down the ramp….sounds like a plan!!! Any one tell me where I can buy a plug that actually works for all functions? With both plugs in either hand and looking at the ends which mount into the truck, the old plug (no right brake light) has 4 metal prongs for contact with 2 empty slots…the new plug (no backy the boaty) has all 6 slots with metal prongs in tact. My team partner has the same plug as the new one I bought (no backy the boaty) on his 2004 Chevy….I can hook up to his Cat and use his plug and all functions are remarkably AOKAY. How did the new plug work fine for one trip…then fail on me the second…………it cant just be that I need another new plug, but if it is the solution then Im not going back to the same place I bought either plug from…Id rather just tithe a bit more than throw money away. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
