Any way to remove a small amount of cured two part epoxy that squeezed out from a keel protector repair? Dont need to remove all of it just the majority without doing any cosmetic damage to hull or underneath layers. Thanks in advance.

Tried acetone. No luck. Cleaned up the uncured epoxy fine but wont touch the cured epoxy. Some squeezed out underneath where I didnt see it. Thought I might need some heat to lower the viscosity of the epoxy but was afraid of adding heat to the hull and how much heat would be needed. Dont want to cause any cosmetic hull damage or damage to the underneath layers. If there is no good solution might have to let it wear off.

If acetone wont take it off then you might have to sand off. Maybe a razor blade to scrape off. Without a pic it hard to determine what you really have.

Used jack stands and the front jack on the boat trailer and some hard styrofoam to hold pressure on the keel protector till epoxy dried. A small amount of the epoxy squeezed out the sides and glued the styrofoam to the boat hull. The foam came off fine but some epoxy was still on the hull. A novice – Didnt realize a little epoxy squeezed out or would have cleaned it uncured. Thanks for the answers. Hoped someone might have been there and experienced this problem. Same thing happened to me. Once that material cures, it is like steel. I used the Six 10 Epoxy recomended by Hamby. I am sure you can probably grind or file it off but I just left it. Was afraid of making it worse. Got some epoxy spray paint from the hardware store and painted it to match the black bottom in the boat. Then sprayed it with a clear coat. I made the mistake of roughing up too big an area and just sprayed that too. On a scale of 1 to 10 it came out an 8 so I was happy. I was glad to have more epoxy than not enough and wanted to make sure the keel guard didnt loosen again. 2 years now and still good.John
